San Diego County Fair 2018 – How Sweet It Is!
Friday starts one of San Diego’s biggest summer attractions as the San Diego County Fair in Del Mar, CA takes over the fairgrounds. This years theme is How Sweet It Is. You’ll leave the ordinary world behind the minute you step into this magical sweet spot overflowing with opportunities to truly savor summer with the excitement of a wide-eyed kid. Whether it’s sampling chocolate bubbling from a fountain, soaking up the glittery ocean views from atop the Ferris wheel, discovering how nature’s sweet fruits grow and ripen, or enjoying the Fair’s golden-ticket entertainment, your toughest decision will be choosing what to indulge in first! (Did you know the bicycle, telephone, ice cream cone, Ferris Wheel, and air conditioning were all introduced at a World’s Fair?)There’s another great concert line up, Toast Of The Coast wine festival, San Diego International Beer Festival and all the great crafts, exhibits, rides and food you can only find at the fair.
Going To The San Diego Fair On A Budget!
As much fun as the fair can be for the entire family it can also be very expensive. With a little planning, you can find great deals for the entire family. If you know you are going more than once, buy a “Best Pass Ever” for $28. It gets you unlimited admissions for less than the price of going twice. Many other discount options can be found here including military discounts, 2 for one adult passes and more! If you have children 12 and under, every Tuesday they get in free! Everyone knows getting into the fair is only 1/4 of the battle, food and ride prices add up quickly. You can bring your own lunch, with these restrictions: No alcohol, glass containers or metal knives of any kind. Beverages must be in factory-sealed containers (you may bring an empty container to fill once you have passed the security check).
How to Get To The San Diego County Fair
Attendees to the San Diego County Fair In Del Mar have a few different free parking options. The Horsepark, 14550 El Camino Real, Del Mar is open every day during the fair. You can park and take a free Double Decker Bus, which run from 9:00 am to 1:00 am. On weekends and July 4, shuttles run from MiraCosta College’s San Elijo Campus, 3333 Manchester Ave., Cardiff and Torrey Pines High School, 3710 Del Mar Heights Rd., Del Mar from 9:00 am to 1:00 am. You can bike to the fair. Bike racks are set up at the O’Brien Gate and the West Gate. You may lock your bikes at either location, using your own lock, at no charge. You can also pay for parking at the Fairgrounds. Single passenger cars and motorcycles are $10 per day, RV’s $20 and preferred parking $20.
